Some of the recent projects completed by Blue Environment include the following: Audit of National Waste Data Methodology The Commonwealth Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities commissioned Blue Environment to audit the draft method for compiling national waste data. The work involved identifying, describing and discussing gaps, problems, issues and alternate method options, including their significance and feasibility.
Guide to Best Practice at Resource Recovery Centres On behalf of Sustainability Victoria, Blue Environment developed an updated guide to reflect current industry practices and changed legislative requirements. Features of the guide included incorporation of sustainability design, planning and management of resource recovery infrastructure. www.sustainability.vic.gov.au Sustainability Planning and Implementation for the Department of Transport Blue Environment investigated current practices to identify opportunities for the incorporation of sustainability into its operational and business planning processes. Following acceptance of the recommendations, Blue Environment worked with the department to implement change. Code of Practice for Managing End-of-Life Televisions The NSW Department of Environment & Climate Change commissioned Blue Environment to develop a national code of practice for recycling and refurbishment of end-of-life televisions. The code forms part of product stewardship arrangements established with the television manufacturing industry. www.environment.nsw.gov.auEnvironmental, Social and Economic Impact Assessment On behalf of Sustainability Victoria and the Victorian Environment Protection Authority, Blue Environment undertook an assessment of the environmental, social and economic impacts of a potential ban on the disposal of concrete to Victorian landfills. Economic Model of SA Levy Blue Environment was commissioned by Adelaide metropolitan Councils to develop an alternative economic model for the application of the SA waste depot levy. The model was submitted to the SA Government as part of the review of the existing levy arrangements in 2007. Tasmanian Waste Management Strategy Blue Environment worked with the Tasmanian Department of the Environment, Parks, Heritage and the Arts to develop a draft waste management strategy for Tasmania. The project included extensive consultation throughout Tasmania to develop a plan for all stakeholders in the waste management industry. www.environment.tas.gov.au |
