National Waste Report 2020

Blue Environment’s National Waste Report 2020 was released on 23 December by the Assistant Minister for Waste Reduction and Environmental Management, Trevor Evans.  The report is the authoritative compilation of national data on waste and resource recovery and the mechanism for measuring progress against national waste policy targets.

It records 74 million tonnes of waste generated in Australia in 2018-19 with a recovery rate of 63%.  Waste generation per capita and the resource recovery rate both increased slightly since the last measurements in 2016-17.

The National Waste Report 2020 was commissioned by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment and is available for download here.
