Blue Environment partners with WMRR to deliver new Waste and Resource Recovery Foundations training
Blue Environment has partnered with the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) to develop and deliver the new Waste and Resource Recovery (WARR) Foundations training program.
The new one-day training course provides a practical introduction to Australia’s waste and resource recovery system, covering core circular economy principles, the waste management hierarchy, how supply chains and procurement decisions influence material outcomes, the role of product design and recycled content in reducing reliance on virgin resources, and the policy, regulatory and legislative landscape shaping the sector.
Drawing on more than 20 years of Blue Environment’s experience across WARR, circular economy and product stewardship projects, the program combines foundational knowledge with practical, real-world context. Blue Environment Director Joe Pickin and Principal Environmental Scientist Lisa McLeod will present the Melbourne pilot session alongside WMRR.
The training is designed for professionals who engage with the industry, new entrants to the sector, and anyone seeking a clearer understanding of how the waste and resource recovery system connects and operates in practice.
The inaugural Melbourne session will take place on Wednesday 10 June 2026.
